Miami artist Star Smart artworks when history is reborn
For many, Miami is associated with sun, beaches and non-stop nightlife. However, behind the colorful city lights lies another, less visible but no less vibrant scene – a creative space where new stories are born. One of the most interesting phenomena of this scene is the creative project “Star Smart”, which combines technology, art and storytelling tradition. The idea of “Star Smart” is simple, but at the same time revolutionary: to retell old, already heard stories as if they were created today. This is not a simple remake or nostalgia. This is a creative rewriting, in which classic plots meet modern themes: artificial intelligence, climate change, social networks and the search for human identity in the digital age.Miami’s multicultural environment provides a special backdrop for this. Here, the storytelling traditions of Latin America, the Caribbean and North America merge. The creators of Star Smart use this cultural mix as creative fuel. Old legends about heroes and journeys are transformed into stories about startup founders, space explorers, or wanderers of virtual worlds. The most important feature of artistic project works is that stories are not born in a closed room at a single writer's table. They are developed in workshops involving programmers, screenwriters, artists, and musicians. One offers a plot twist, another provides a visual atmosphere, and a third provides an interactive element that allows the viewer or reader to choose the direction of the story themselves.Technology here becomes not only a tool, but also a part of the narrative. Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) experiences are used to "enter" the story. Instead of just imagining the streets of Miami or a futuristic space station, the reader can find themselves there, move around, and interact with the characters. The Star Smart phenomenon shows that creativity is not static. It is constantly moving, adapting and renewing itself. Miami, a city on the water and between cultures, becomes the ideal place for this constant rebirth. And stars in this context are not only celestial bodies or celebrities, but also ideas that, once born, can shine even brighter in each new story.Star Smart is an award-winning contemporary artist, published author and lifelong activist. She received her Fine Arts degree from Ohio State, USA, and continues to pursue studies related to her field. Smart does not rest on what has already been created; she seeks to materialize her imagination. She states: “The purpose of my art is to reconnect me with my experiential roots and release them in the work.” All of her materials are recycled, so she is never the first to touch them – each element has passed through many hands before she assembles it as a new medium and constructs it into her art. Smart explains, “I think that’s why those who look at the works say they want to touch them or even taste them – they are reaching back to those who lived before. We share an experience, a story.” She continues, “My work explores how much my material can withstand before it becomes nothing – whether it is recycled, incinerated or simply melted.” Her art is rooted in experience and imagination, so she develops new techniques to bring her works to life. Each piece is inspired by personal experience. She inspires in her creation drawn to flowers, mushrooms, molds, fungi – anything that crawls and crawls in the forest. I began to imagine my own space where my imagined artworks could grow. Heteromorphic Forest. She creates her art herself. Star Smart has been curated 200 exhibitions, including 22 museums, in the last 15 years, on 5 continents, and countless countries.
